First Fracture

First Fracture

Sweet on the outside. Ache all the way down.

A stunning, bittersweet cocktail that mirrors the emotional arc of a first heartbreak — it opens with a rush of bright, hopeful sweetness from raspberry and rose, then slowly gives way to a lingering, gentle bitterness that you just can't shake. A dramatic color-break effect (deep red sinking through pale pink) reflects that moment when something beautiful begins to crack apart.

Glass: Coupe glassGarnish: A single dried rose petal resting on the surface, and a thin half-moon of lemon on the rim — slightly wilted if possible

Ingredients

  • 1.5 oz rose-infused vodka
  • 0.5 oz Aperol
  • 0.75 oz fresh lemon juice
  • 0.5 oz raspberry syrup
  • 0.25 oz Campari
  • 1 oz chilled rosé wine (floated on top)
  • 2 dashes lavender bitters
  • Pinch of flaky sea salt

Instructions

  1. Make the raspberry syrup: simmer equal parts sugar, water, and fresh raspberries for 10 minutes, strain, and chill.
  2. Add the rose-infused vodka, Aperol, fresh lemon juice, raspberry syrup, Campari, and lavender bitters into a cocktail shaker with ice.
  3. Add a small pinch of flaky sea salt — this quietly amplifies the bittersweet contrast (like tears do).
  4. Shake hard for 12–15 seconds until well chilled.
  5. Double-strain into a chilled coupe glass.
  6. Slowly pour the chilled rosé wine over the back of a spoon so it floats and then gradually bleeds downward, creating a red-to-pale-pink fracture effect.
  7. Garnish with a dried rose petal floating on the surface and a lemon half-moon on the rim. Serve immediately, before the colors fully blend.
