The Fresh Cut

The Fresh Cut

Cold, crisp, and earned — just like the end of a Saturday chore.

This cocktail captures that glorious, sweaty moment when you shut off the mower, peel off your gloves, and crack something cold. Built around fresh cucumber and grassy green Chartreuse to echo that just-cut lawn smell, brightened with lemon and a hint of ginger heat for the summer sun beating down on your back. It's earthy, refreshing, and unmistakably outdoorsy.

Glass: Tall Collins glassGarnish: A long, thin cucumber ribbon curled inside the glass and a small sprig of fresh thyme dusted with a pinch of flaky sea salt on the rimPrep: 4 minutesDifficulty: Medium

Ingredients

  • 2 oz cucumber-infused vodka (or plain vodka muddled with 4 cucumber slices)
  • ½ oz green Chartreuse
  • ¾ oz fresh lemon juice
  • ½ oz ginger simple syrup
  • 2 oz chilled sparkling water
  • Small handful of fresh mint leaves
  • 4 thin cucumber slices (for muddling)

Instructions

  1. In a shaker, muddle the 4 cucumber slices and fresh mint leaves until fragrant and pulpy.
  2. Add the cucumber-infused vodka, green Chartreuse, fresh lemon juice, and ginger simple syrup.
  3. Fill the shaker with ice and shake hard for 12–15 seconds until well chilled.
  4. Fill a tall Collins glass with fresh ice cubes.
  5. Double-strain the cocktail into the glass to remove cucumber pulp and mint bits.
  6. Top with chilled sparkling water and gently stir once to integrate.
  7. Curl a long cucumber ribbon inside the glass along the inner wall, add a sprig of fresh thyme, and pinch a small amount of flaky sea salt onto the rim's edge to finish.
